My old one cracked because water froze in it. This newer version is an upgrade and was easy to swap out. I’m only giving a rating of a 4 because I think the design could be further improved by providing a drain (like a threaded plug) on the bottom, so you could ensure all the water is out of there for winter, assuming the unit is outside and will be turned off, although mine froze while it was still in use.

I damaged my original unit disassembling my filter for winter storage as I live in Colorado. Therefore, I can’t comment on its performance until next Spring. The new unit has an upgraded valve compared to my original ball valve. I’m sure that it will perform just fine as I had no issues with my system since installation 3 yrs. ago.
