Warranty concerning all koi sold by Sacramento Koi
At Sacramento Koi, we take great pride in what we do and we love koi. It is very important to us that each of our customers are pleased with their experience when dealing with us. For that reason, we go to great lengths to provide both beautiful and healthy koi to our customers.
To accomplish this, each year when we travel to Japan we purchase koi from only a few select breeders. These are breeders that we have developed a close personal relationship with over the years. While there we hand-select each koi not only for its beauty but also to make sure it is healthy.
When we receive the koi from Japan we put them all through a very strict 4-month quarantine process.
– During this quarantine process no koi are released early.
– All koi are placed in separate holding tanks according to the breeder to prevent any possible cross-contamination in the event there is an issue with one breeder’s koi.
– All koi are gently heated up to between 65 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit for the whole quarantine process. This serves two purposes. One is to keep the koi healthy. The other is to encourage any disease or virus the koi might be carrying to become active so we can deal with it before the koi is delivered to the customer.
– One week into the quarantine process all the koi are systematically treated with potassium permanganate for 10 days to remove any parasites.
– After treating for parasites the koi are periodically checked with a microscope during the rest of the quarantine process to ensure the parasite treatment was effective.
– Finally, before shipping we carefully inspect each koi to make sure there are no issues with the koi.
Shipping can be stressful on a koi so when shipping our koi we try to select the safest and quickest means of shipping the koi to ensure the customer receives the koi in as good a health as possible. We often recommend shipping koi overnight through UPS but in some circumstances, we will suggest shipping directly to an airport near the customer which can oftentimes greatly reduce the shipping time and the cost.
Once we hand the koi over to the shipper we have very little to no control over the koi but in the unfortunate event the the koi are lost or delayed to the point the koi die we will refund both the cost of the koi and the shipping expense.
Once the customer has received the koi and placed it in their pond we feel we have done all we can to provide them with a healthy koi. There is no warranty beyond that point. In no event will we accept any liability for loss beyond the original cost paid for the koi and shipping.
Pre-Order Koi
Yes, your pre-order deposit is 100% refundable. If you pre-order a koi that is over the price of $1,500, we will try to personally contact you while we are in Japan to confirm that you like it before we purchase it.
You have no obligation to purchase any of the koi you ordered. If you like some of the koi and decide to purchase them we can apply your total deposit toward any koi you purchase and then, if there is a balance still due you can pay that separate.
Koi Buying
All our koi sales are done online. On December 13th, 2024 at 5 pm PST, all the koi available for sale, after the pre-orders have been filled, will be posted online for viewing only. This will allow our customers an opportunity to browse through our inventory and bookmark any koi they are interested in purchasing. Then, on December 16th, 2024 at 12 pm PST, all our remaining koi will be available for purchase through our website. Each koi will have an “Add to Cart” button.
No. For bio security reasons we no longer have a public showroom. Instead, we take a high-quality video and a photograph of each koi so that you can purchase the koi with confidence from your own home.
Since 2018, we have started a very serious 4-month quarantine process for all our koi. Additionally, we don’t like to release koi in the middle of the winter. For health reasons we keep all our koi heated to 65 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the whole quarantine process. Please watch this video for more information about our quarantine procedure.
All koi pre-order deposits are completely refundable if you chose not to purchase a koi. If you chose to purchase a koi we require you pay for the koi at that time. If at a later time you decide not to take the koi, for any reason, there will be a 20% cancellation fee subtracted from your refund. Once you take possession of the Koi there are no returns or refunds.
